On Saturday, July 20, 2024, at approximately 4:30am, the LCFD was dispatched to the area of Sakonnet Point for a report of an overturned vessel with multiple people in the water. Crews arrived on scene to find another boat in the area assisting 2 people in the water and were able to get them to shore without further incident. Both parties were evaluated by EMS and appeared to be uninjured and declined further medical assistance. DEM and USCG were contacted regarding the overturned vessel.
